About this piece
You are not one thing, we are made of a million little things. The experiences and people who shape our very being. My submission is about how we are made of many different things, each a thread to make us who we are.
Who am I?
I am my mother’s daughter, and I am forever my daddy’s little girl.
I am a child of Africa, forever connected to my motherland.
I am a woman of faith; my faith grounds me.
I am a lady who wears her heart on her sleeve, I love to show love and be loved.
I have a heart that dances to the tunes of old- school music and still wants to learn about the new age music.
Empathy is my way of living, I feel everything deeply.
I sometimes dance with deep anxious thoughts.
Rejection looms in my mind.
Some days the sky does not look so blue.
I am an orphan who grew having a void for a love that I knew I could never receive.
Even in the deep and dark thoughts, I always find my light.
The things that make me who I am, are the experiences that I have had, the people who have threaded my very being.
