About this piece
The thread connecting us all across continents is nature.The spiritual significance of our lives is reflected in the life cycle of these tiny flowers which bloom their entire existence for only a night.
Parijats scattered on my lawn:
Ripped to shreds, flit in the air-
An unsent love letter at dawn;
Flame-hued stems fall, forlorn.
Scent suffused silver nights
Beneath the moon, yawn.
In its saffron navel rests my soul;
Milky petals
Bathe in attar this body worn.
At dawn like dreams they tremble, torn,
In their fall I rise- qualm to calm,
That primavera night now undone.
At dawn, I am to nature born
As blooms shachah. Such grace in loss.
Their dervish dance exalt life alone.
In my sacred bower they mourn,
I gather those morning sighs, ease
Them to kiss the altar at morn;
And to freedom they rise, they shine.
