About this piece
A reflective poem about longing for escape, acceptance, and self-understanding. It explores the desire to be seen as one truly is, to find gentle love, inner peace, and freedom from expectations and emotional weight while becoming fully oneself.
Whispers of Becoming
I wish I could escape, just to breathe,
find a quiet place that feels like me.
I wish they could see me as I am,
not who they expect, not who they plan.
I wish love would find me, soft and true,
like I was enough in all I grew.
I wish the mirror would be kind,
and show a softer, gentler mind.
I wish I could be the one they want,
without feeling like I’m someone I’m not.
I wish to be understood, and finally feel like me,
I wish to prove my worth and learn to feel free.
I wish to feel like beauty lives in all I’m meant to be,
I wish my love is seen and held in hearts set free.
I wish to release the weight that time has left behind,
and find a gentler world where peace is close to mind.
