What We Carry Forward

About this piece
This poem explores the quiet ways we carry each other—through memory, language, and shared experience—highlighting the unseen threads that connect us across distance and time.
We do not travel empty.
Even in silence,
we carry something—
voices that shaped us,
hands that held us steady,
names we refuse to forget.
There is a thread in all of us,
invisible but unbroken,
pulling past into present.
It lives in how we speak,
how we remember,
how we begin again.
And though the world keeps changing,
though distance stretches wide,
we carry each other forward—
in ways we may never fully see,
but always feel.
