About this piece
This poem explores the emotional in-between spaces of solitude, longing and connection. Through the image of threading it traces how absence and unmet emotional reciprocity weave themselves into desire for companionship while questioning whether that need gives any resolution.
I thread the quiet space between solitude and companionship,
Courageously surviving while my internal state is eclipsed,
I wonder how many days would pass before I find solace,
Would I forever weave the thread of a never ending need for someone else?
I thread the quiet ache between loneliness and being almost held,
Grieving the silence of a presence that never listened to understand,
I wish for a soul who would value what I always value in them,
Would I forever weave the thread of a never ending need for someone else?
I thread unraveling between words that were spoken and truths withheld,
The lingering echoes of unfinished conversations and endless memories,
I dream of a day I could restore my hopes and acceptance,
Would I forever weave the thread of a never ending need for someone else?
