THE LINE I CARRY
By Robert Daniel Bockarie- Sierra Leone.
Long before my voice, I carry a shaped line. The memories hold sounds , resilience, and names fought by history to forget. This line is Sierra Leone: a place where struggle and hope coexist.
I have seen children envision greatness without shoes , mothers build futures from almost nothing, and young people dare to believe beyond the weight of their reality.
In krio, Mende, and Temne my line is spoken. But it’s true meaning is written in lived courage. It crosses borders into the commonwealth of Nations, where broken histories can choose healing.
I stand today beyond the shadow of hardship -as evidence of becoming, I build I rise, I become – in step with millions whose stories must be told.
I release my line it is not polished, nor perfect -but it is powerful.
A thread from Sierra Leone, woven through belief, Forged in flame, reaching toward what lies ahead. These threads of life are stitched into the shared fabric of the commonwealth .
Let it be clearly stated: we remain, though some doubted we would. We continue. Our work is not finished. We are not small. We are a people of story, of strength, of becoming.
And our line extends now- far above the limits once set for us.
Thank you.
