About this piece
Separated by seas, joined by culture. The works and lives of the Natives Amerindians are a baseline of our rich culture, though our islands names have changed, they still embody the spirit. Though our threads spun are different, they are weaved to comfort a shared history.
See the face of the ancestors.
In us, lives the wise forefathers.
Their stories weaved in seas and land.
Our hearts led by the native hand.
Hidden spirits on winds they glide.
They rise, bear arms with ev’ry tide.
Let no man, this trueness amand.
Our hearts led by the native hand.
Hear their voice in our ev’ry song.
In the womb of the land, we belong.
Their footprints in our sands, we stand.
Our hearts led by the native hand.
Let ev’ry island weave their quilt.
With ev’ry thread, spun without guilt.
Our name, Caribe, we won’t aband.
Our hearts led by the native hand.
