THE DOT
A dot, a pin prick a minuscule blemish on the map of the world.
Big rats roamed its caves in prehistoric time.
A sacred place of worship for islands near and far for the Arawak’s and Amerindians, sailing long days to worship their Gods on eel island.
Colonized but rebellious the colonizers were and the land too dry to produce sweetness, the freed abandoned and left to die, showed their resilience and thrived. We even seasoned the world for a short time from our ponds.
A battle fought in 1745 for its white sand beaches and pristine waters has re-emerged, oh how history repeats itself.
In 1967, it roared the mouse roared and broke from the twin sisters to remain British, but the British now fight it for itself.
The jewel in the crown diamonds of white sands sea of blue sapphire is coveted by the rich and famous. Many revere the culinary experience and vote that dot number one.
That dot which now commands the world, with two small letters after it.
That blemish now rules the world, quietly, unassuming, insidious in nature the dot commands
The people are still there, still loving, still rebellious and just a little gossipy. They tell of their rich history and it is clear to see in the food.
The national sport tells so much history and storms have ravaged her and brought her to her knees, but she still stands - that dot, that pin prick, that blemish that the world now knows and cannot do without.
