The iron in the blood began as dust,
Scattered by a wind that meant to break.
It learned the language of the rising crust,
The slow, defiant pull of what we take
From every wintered field and frozen lake.
To bend is not to fail; the willow knows
That strength is often found in letting go.
While sturdier oaks are splintered by the snows,
The reed persists because it dares to flow,
Finding the secret pulse that beats below.
We are mended glass, the fired clay,
More luminous for every jagged seam.
The scars are maps of how we found our way,
A silver thread stitched through a darker dream,
The steady light with a restless stream.
The wall that crumbles isn't just an end;
It is the opening where the ivy climbs.
For every break that we are forced to mend,
We find a rhythm in the hardest times,
A sudden music in the hallowed chimes.
So stand within the storm and do not fear
The salt, the cold, or how the shadows fall.
The very ground that trier to disappear
Is niw the bedrock underneath it all,
The strength that rises when we hear the call.
