About this piece
The ocean’s pull toward the moon is a metaphor for big dreams. It shows that even impossible goals help us grow when we keep trying to reach them.
Ocean of Ambition
A playful nudge on my profile,
From afar, a quarter-million miles,
A burrowed lantern shines so bright,
Covers me in glittered light.
Inexorable, your pull, no matter my disguise,
I rise and fall to catch your eyes.
Loud roars against the rocks,
I race against the clocks.
Burning fire in my veins,
Yearning refuses all constraints.
Without fail, I try again,
Let it spear me in rain.
“Know thy limits,” asks for a bargain.
"The moon, too vast to attain."
Yet what seems too far to gain,
My waves stretch beyond every chain.
So let me fail a thousand nights in gleam,
I remember: I started as a stream.
The sea grows wide the moment it dreams.
