How we learned

About this piece
My submission is about visiting the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington. Learning as a child about the different countries that made up the Commonwealth and what it meant to be a part of it. Memories of a time and space now fading or gone, but also learning human geography.
I used to go to the Institute
to celebrate the Commonwealth,
To learn about their histories,
To learn about the past.
We used to go to the Institute
To see vibrant colours and lots of flags,
To learn about the crops and food
And the differences we had.
They never went to the Institute
To share about their lives
They brought the cultures, the diversity, the difference
And brought the Commonwealth alive!
And now there is no Institute,
More Countries now are free,
And as the world gets smaller and social media shares what's gone,
We think about the Commonwealth, before we say so long.
