Written piece
Her journey to womanhood

About this piece
The poem's all about the developing journey of the Commonwealth of Nations being compared to that of a skinny girl journeying into womanhood. Her excruciating experiences shaped her, moulded her and paved way for her. And thus she built her own crossroad to what it is now.
Stanza 1
The night's cricket chirped
And she knew just then
That she was just a girl
Still naked to life's torment
She watched the clock's tik tok, tik tok
Stanza 2
She saw the rainbow blossom
And the glamorous night stars twinkled
Though her heart was sourly wounded by life
She waited patiently for her sunrise
Yet watching the clock's tik tok, tik tok
Stanza 3
She rattled and yelled at all
As the redness of her pain
Brought her to tears amid questioning
Will she ever grow? She asked
Even as her clock tiks tok, tik tok
Stanza 4
Alas, she paved her own crossroad
Through tunnels of itching stings
Treasuring with tears and joy
The harsh lessons of life
Although her clock never stops to tik tok, tik tok
Stanza 5
She built her own world
Where the berries of life could wash pains to strength
She grew above just a skinny girl
With a virtuous name of hers
Still the clock tiks tok, tiks tok
Stanza 6
The wind blew her to spring
In the midst of fairy daffodils
Into the womanhood she waited for
To a freesia safe haven
Where she was born to a new tik tok, tik tok
Stanza 7
And just then the sound of her clock
Transformed to a diamond tik tok, tik tok
For all she know, for all is real
The prize of her womanhood
Became a diamond tik tok, tik tok.
