দৌঁড়াতে দৌঁড়াতে জীবনে
গন্তব্যে হেঁটে চলি
ক্রমাগত ফিরে আসি মূলে;
মূল ঈপ্সিত নয়, জড় পথ!
রিক্সার ঢালু সিটে বসে লম্বা পথ পাড়ি দেবার মতো
অস্বস্তিকর দীর্ঘ বোধ হয় মাঝপথকে–
তবুও সর্বংসহা হই, স্বপ্রণোদিত হই
হেঁটে চলি গন্তব্যে। যেহেতু ঈপ্সিত এই অর্জন;
স্থবিরতা ঘৃণিত সময়ের কাছে।
হে স্রোতস্বিনী, বাষ্পীভূত হও,
উর্ধ্বে গমন করো, ফের পতিত হও—
এই খেলা চক্রাবর্ত ছুটে চলা—
গন্তব্যে ক্রমাগত হেঁটে
ফিরে আসি মূলে।
English translation
Running Through Life
I walk toward the destination
yet keep returning to the root—
The root, undesired, O barren road!
Halfway feels like a sloped seat
on a long ride nowhere—
restless, tilted, and unreleased.
Yet I endure; I move of my own will,
and walk on toward the destination.
For this pursuit is what I covet;
Stillness is despised by time.
O flowing river, evaporate,
rise upward, then fall again—
this play, this cycle of ceaseless motion—
walking toward the destination,
I return, again, to the source.
