We make annual open calls for writing submissions to the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and our online magazine, adda. Subscribing to our mailing lists for both the prize and adda and following @cwfcreatives on X, Facebook and Instagram are the best ways to hear about these opportunities. We cannot accept unsolicited submissions of writing outside of our open calls.

Our annual grants call is the only way we disperse funds. The rest of our grants opportunities are by invitation only. The Commonwealth Foundation does not provide education grants or funding to individuals. To find out more about our grants, please refer to our open grants call page, which includes details on timelines, eligibility rules, how to enter an application, and frequently asked questions. Please also consider joining our mailing list to be the first to know about future opportunities.

Please visit our jobs page for current opportunities to work for the Commonwealth Foundation. Our opportunities page lists other ways to get involved with our work.

As a small, London-based organisation of around 25 employees, we are subject to UK employment and immigration law which require all non-Director level staff to have the right to work in the UK. There are other Commonwealth organisations based in other Commonwealth countries—including Canada and India—however their staff are also subject to local employment and immigration law.
