About this piece
“Entwined” is about inextricable human bonds that have existed for as long as one can remember. The refrain evokes vivid imagery to compare the timelessness of relations with the omnipresent natural beauty of the world. The poem talks of kinship that thrives all around us.
Like dewdrops on grass in the early hours
Like ants in the wild, marching in shared song
Like fine spider webs, invisible to the eye
We are truths, ties and tales always kept alive
Like the sound of thunder in the footsteps of light
Like the rainbow, seven ribbons bound tight
Like the Moon borrowing the Sun’s blessed shine
We are myths, legends and songs spread far and wide
Like the robin lending a tune, morning nigh
Like the wind hitting the pines to whistle all spry
Like a river to the sea, slumping in solace
We are whispers, signs and symbols hidden in plain sight
Like rain falling to earth in hints of petrichor
Like languishing rocks in embrace of moss
We are eternal braids, bound together, love-laced
We are mosaics, quietly patched, never erased
