How we are helping

This project aims to strengthen literary and cultural development in Barbados by providing mentorship, training and publishing opportunities for writers.

About the project

The Read2Me-Write4Me writing programme is a key component of ArtsEtc’s mission to map the literature of Barbados. It will raise awareness of existing Barbadian literature, publish new literary works, and improve reading and literacy levels.

A team of writers, storytellers, and visual and theatre artists will lead creative writing workshops for selected participants. Through guided mentorship, participants will craft original written work for consideration in an anthology of Barbadian writing.

As a result of the project, it is hoped that interest in reading and literacy in Barbados will be improved; participants will gain confidence in their creative abilities and feel empowered to continue writing and submitting their work to competitions and publications
