How we are helping

We are supporting Women Unlimited to strengthen strategic planning, train staff in resource mobilisation and legal advocacy, and build a robust fundraising strategy.

About the project

The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.

Women Unlimited is a civil society organisation working to advance women’s rights and inclusion in Eswatini. To improve long-term sustainability and community impact, the organisation seeks to improve its fundraising and strategic direction. With this grant, Women Unlimited will develop a three-year strategic plan, build its internal capacities, and strengthen its fundraising and advocacy efforts.

The key actions for this project are:

  • Strategic planning
    • Convening strategic planning and development meetings.
    • Engaging a consultant to co-design a three-year strategic plan.
  • Resource mobilisation and fundraising
    • Training leaders and staff in resource mobilisation.
    • Developing a fundraising strategy to support future programming.
  • Advocacy and capacity building
    • Hiring an advocacy officer to lead the implementation of the new strategy.
    • Conducting staff training on women’s rights and legal reform.
    • Developing a targeted advocacy and lobbying strategy.

As a result of the project, it is hoped that Women Unlimited will be better equipped to plan, fund and implement its programmes effectively. Staff will have strengthened skills in rights-based advocacy and legal reform, improving their capacity to influence change. The new strategic plan and fundraising strategy will enhance organisational direction and sustainability, contributing to stronger governance, broader impact and a more resilient organisation.
