How we are helping

We are supporting RedRoot SVG to deliver grant writing training, develop a resource mobilisation strategy and strengthen financial management.

About the project

The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.

RedRoot SVG is a community-based organisation committed to empowering and supporting women and children affected by violence, inequality, and sexual abuse through grassroots-led initiatives. To increase its impact, RedRoot SVG is seeking to improve its financial systems and strengthen the grant-writing skills of its members and staff. With this grant, the organisation will deliver targeted training in proposal writing, develop a resource mobilisation strategy, and improve financial management through the introduction of QuickBooks software.

The key actions for this project are:

  • Capacity building in grant writing
  • Hosting a facilitated proposal writing workshop that integrates practical exercises.
  • Developing tailored course materials including case studies, quizzes and assignments.
  • Resource mobilisation strategy
  • Creating a strategy comprising online giving tools, donor engagement, social media use and diversified fundraising approaches.
  • Financial management training
  • Conducting a workshop on QuickBooks to strengthen financial systems and reporting capacity.

As a result of the project, it is hoped that RedRoot SVG will be better positioned to attract and manage funding, enabling the organisation to complete more projects and address a broader range of community needs. Staff and members will gain valuable skills in grant proposal writing and resource mobilisation, empowering them to contribute more effectively to the organisation’s mission and strengthen community-level change.
