BVI Lit Fest 2024 Writing Competition

Submit an original poem of fictional short story that captures your unique interpretation of the BVI Lit Fest 2024 theme, “Roots to Routes.”

Poetry Category:

• Must use literary devices that may include alliteration, internal or end rhyme and personification.
• Must clearly demonstrate an original take on the theme
• Must have at least four stanzas, or poetry paragraphs

Fiction Category

• Must use literary devices that may include the use of imagery, metaphor, personification and foreshadowing.
• Must clearly demonstrate an original take on the theme
• Must be no more than two pages. The short story may have a satisfying ending, or wrap up with a cliff hanger.

Open to writers aged 14 and older.

Submissions should be sent to: litfest@hlscc.edu.vg by Friday 25 October 2024

1 winner for Youth Category (1-18) and 1 winner for Adult category (19-up)

Winners will be revealed at the BVI Lit Fest: Light A Fire Poets’ Showcase on Friday 8 November 2024 at the SushiBar, Road Town, Tortola.
