Bristol Short Story Prize

The University of Bristol has opened submissions to the Bristol Short Story Prize 2026. This prize is for stories of up to 4,000 words in any genre from published and unpublished authors from across the world.

The overall winner of the prize will receive £1500, while the second and third placed entries will receive £500 and £250 respectively. All shortlisted entries will receive £50 and will be published in their print anthology.

This prize is totally free to enter and is open to all authors from across the world above the age of 16. The deadline for entries is 31 January 2026.
