African Teen Writers Award

Writers Space Africa is pleased to announce the 5th edition of the African Teen Writers Awards. This award aims to inspire and empower young African writers by encouraging them to share their stories and challenge negative stereotypes about the continent through creative expression.

The award is open to teens aged 13 to 16 years, and submissions are accepted in two categories: Poetry and Prose. Each participant may submit one entry per category.

Submission period: March 15 – July 1, 2026
Theme: The Teen Behind Social Media

The winner in each category will receive:

A certificate of achievement
A cash prize of $100, sponsored by Nahida Esmail
Shortlisted participants will be required to provide proof of age and identification when contacted.
