This session will explore how the landmark ICJ Advisory Opinion can serve as a powerful tool for strengthening environmental accountability and amplifying civil society advocacy across the Commonwealth. The discussion will examine how citizens, environmental advocates, and marginalised communities can use it to hold governments accountable for protecting ecosystems, biodiversity, water and natural resources, while highlighting the partnerships and strategic litigation that helped make the ruling possible.
