Footnote x Counterpoints Prize for Fiction

The Footnote x Counterpoints Prize celebrates writers from refugee and migrant backgrounds telling stories centred around themes of displacement, courage and belonging. The winner will receive a £7,500 cash prize and a publication agreement with Footnote Press, an imprint of Bonnier Books UK. The Prize is also supported by the Southbank Centre, which will host an event in May 2026 at which five shortlisted authors will be invited to read and discuss their work.

Submissions are free to make and are open to anyone with a refugee or migrant background that is resident in the UK or Ireland. The Deadline for submissions is 13 February 2026.
