How we are helping

We are supporting Dialogue Fiji to upgrade its financial systems, train staff, engage a multimedia specialist, strengthen governance structures and conduct policy reviews.

About the project

The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.

Dialogue Fiji works to foster inclusive governance and civic engagement in Fiji. To continue this work effectively, the organisation is strengthening its internal systems. The grant will support improvements in financial management, strategic planning, and social media advocacy to increase its reach and resilience.

The key actions for this project are:

  • Financial management strengthening
    • Procuring additional licences for MYOB accounting software
    • Training three staff members in financial management
  • Strategic planning and governance
    • Reviewing and updating governance and finance manuals
    • Conducting capacity-building sessions for board members
    • Reviewing organisational governance
  • Communications and advocacy
    • Engaging a multimedia specialist to support tailored strategies and content creation for social media platforms

As a result of the project, it is hoped that Dialogue Fiji will strengthen its capacity to more effectively promote inclusive civic dialogue in Fiji. Improvements in real-time financial monitoring will ensure continuity in financial practices. An increase in social media engagement will enhance visibility and outreach. Strengthened governance structures through updated policies and board training will improve accountability, transparency, and strategic alignment across the organisation.

Dialogue Fiji

Dialogue Fiji has been working on inclusive and participatory decision-making, democratic transition, good governance, conflict analysis and peacebuilding since 2009. Dialogue Fiji also works with local and international partners in election monitoring, and other human rights development programs. The vision of the organisation is ‘a Fiji where people respect each other’s differences and share a common will to build a free, just, peaceful, and inclusive nation’. Its mission is to ‘engage with others to create inclusive spaces for dialogue and peacebuilding, and develop capacities in Fiji's society for a culture of dialogue, resulting in dialogue processes being applied to increase understanding, respect and collaboration across divides.’
