Barbados National Independence Festival of Creative Arts: Film and Video

Every November, Barbados comes alive with the vibrant energy of the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA), a cornerstone of the island’s Independence celebrations. This month-long festival is a dazzling showcase of Bajan talent, highlighting the richness of the nation’s culture through music, dance, drama, visual arts, and literary arts.

The National Cultural Foundation Barbados are inviting filmmakers to submit to the NIFCA Film & Video Competition. The compeition is split into Junior and Adult sections, with the following categories: Narrative Fiction, Documentaries, Animation and Music Videos. Entrants to this competition could win upto BBD$7500, and there are cash prizes for the three highest scoring entries to each category. This opportunity is open to filmmakers who are citizens of Barbados or resident in Barbados. Entries close on 6 October 2025.
