Reineira Arguello Sanjuan

Reinera is an expert on women’s rights and gender, with more than 20 years of work experience in international development.

Reineira has worked extensively in both Latin America and East Africa, and has worked with Indigenous people from both the Andes and the Amazon Basin. She has also coordinated programmes on women’s political participation in Nepal and Afghanistan.

At Swiss Aid, her work focused on supporting rural communities displaced by conflict. As a government official, she led the administration of government funds for social investment programmes. As programme manager at Womankind Worldwide, she led, developed and managed programmes on violence against women, women’s political participation, women access to resources, peace building, access to justice, and sexual and reproductive rights.

As Head of Programmes at Womankind Worldwide, she was responsible for the strategic development and management of the international programmes department, which included work in 14 countries and partnerships with 42 women organisations.

She has delivered consultancy contracts on monitoring and evaluation and reporting to donors with organisations such as War on Want in the UK. She worked and campaigned for the rights of migrants women as project coordinator at Latin American Women’s Rights service.
