Malou joined the Commonwealth Foundation in October 2017.
She has worked on issues of gender and participatory governance for 11 years and is currently responsible for supporting the Foundation’s work in this area.
As Governance Policy and Advocacy Officer for Progressio (CIIR), Malou worked on policy development and analysis in relation to gender, business and human rights with a focus on Zimbabwe, and conducted research on gender and women’s political participation within the broader political settlement of Somaliland.
From 2007 to 2013, she was based in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where she worked as a Senior Programme Officer for Christian Aid on conflict transformation with an emphasis on human rights, gender and accountable governance.
She has lived and studied in Nigeria and Colombia and holds an MSc and a BA from SOAS, the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London in Violence, Conflict and Development and African Language and Culture.
Malou enjoys nature, yoga, swimming, movement, laughing with friends and family, and learning.
