Advancing Universal Health Coverage throughout the Commonwealth: Recommendations from Civil Society
The Foundation has worked with Commonwealth civil society to develop twelve Recommendations for inclusive and equitable healthcare.
The Recommendations first took shape in February when a group of 220 health experts and civil society leaders from 35 countries participated in a landmark roundtable Critical Conversation: ‘Advancing Universal Health Coverage Through Gender Equality’. They were further developed using an online survey which saw more than 300 additional health advocates share their suggestions for making universal healthcare a reality by better considering the needs of women and girls.
The Recommendations were shared at the Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting in Geneva in May 2023. We shared a progress update on the Recommendations at the 2024 Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting.
