Advancing Universal Health Coverage throughout the Commonwealth: Recommendations from Civil Society

The Foundation has worked with Commonwealth civil society to develop twelve Recommendations for inclusive and equitable healthcare.

The Recommendations first took shape in February when a group of 220 health experts and civil society leaders from 35 countries participated in a landmark roundtable Critical Conversation‘Advancing Universal Health Coverage Through Gender Equality’. They were further developed using an online survey which saw more than 300 additional health advocates share their suggestions for making universal healthcare a reality by better considering the needs of women and girls.

The Recommendations were shared at the Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting in Geneva in May 2023. We shared a progress update on the Recommendations at the 2024 Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting.
