Issue
Nurses Association of the Republic of Seychelles (NARS) rely on skilled volunteers to deliver their work.
How we are helping
We are working with NARS to run volunteer recruitment campaigns and to train volunteers on processes that will sustain the organisation.
About the project
The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.
NARS’ important work advocating for and supporting the nursing profession in Seychelles relies on dedicated volunteers. It is vital that there are enough volunteers to sustain the organisation, and that there is sufficient income to fund it. We are supporting NARS to train members on processes that will generate income. We will also ensure membership remains at a healthy level with volunteer recruitment campaigns.
The key actions for this project are:
- Training volunteers to acquire funds for the organisation:
- Writing grant applications
- Writing fundraising proposals
- Running a volunteer recruitment campaign on television, printed flyers and billboard advertising
It is hoped that the number of volunteers will double by the end of the project. Training volunteers on fundraising processes should also generate the necessary income to fund the organisation.
