Issue
Antigua & Barbuda Association of Persons with Disabilities (ABAPD) are already providing valuable services to local communities but their work would benefit from enhanced organisational capacity.
How we are helping
We are supporting ABAPD to increase their organisational effectiveness, supporting training in areas of importance including finance, monitoring and strategic planning.
About the project
The Foundation’s capacity strengthening grants stream supports smaller Commonwealth civil society organisations in smaller Member States, building their expertise and enhancing their capacity to influence policy.
We are supporting ABAPD to increase their organisational effectiveness and capacity. Our support will enable them to undertake targeted organisational strengthening training in key strategic areas.
The key actions for this project are:
- Developing a three-year strategic plan for the organisation
- Staff training in:
- proposal writing
- project planning and management
- financial management
- monitoring and evaluation
- communications
As a result of the project, ABAPD will have a more focused plan of action, and will be better placed to plan and deliver projects. Greater visibility will increase ABAPD’s collaborative opportunities with similar organisations and widen its reach. Ultimately, the grant will enable ABAPD to advocate more effectively and for a greater number of people with disabilities in Antigua and Barbuda.
