Torch Literary Magazine Rolling Call for Submissions

Torch Magazine is open to submissions from Black women writers. Whether you’re into Poetry, Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, or Scripts (plays or screenplays), they’d love to read your work! Selected submissions will receive $150 and be showcased in their Friday Feature. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis year-round—no deadline!

Torch Literary Arts is an organization established to publish and promote creative writing by Black women. They publish contemporary writing by emerging and experienced writers alike. Torch Magazine has featured work by Toi Derricotte, Tayari Jones, Sharon Bridgforth, Crystal Wilkinson, Patricia Smith, Natasha Trethewey, Elizabeth Alexander, and others. Programs include the Wildfire Reading Series, writing workshops, retreats, and special events.

They are interested in work that challenges and disrupts preconceived notions of what contemporary writing by Black women should be. Your stories and poems are valuable and necessary. Write freely and submit work you are excited to share with the world.

Enquiries about submissions should be directed to Torch Literary Arts. Please always refer to their website for complete details and information.

Please note, this call is run by Torch Literary Arts, not the Commonwealth Foundation.
