The Obaasima Creative Fund
To celebrate the launch of their new project, Black Girl Fest is thrilled to announce The Obaasima Creative Fund – a new funding pot offering micro-grants for women-led creative projects
Obaasima – an interdisciplinary research project shedding light on the profound significance of African women in the creative industry.
Launching in January 2025, this project aims to generate new knowledge of creative and cultural industries across the continent. They hope to enhance the cultural imprint of African women through collaboration, connection and co-creation. By fostering community and providing essential resources, Obaasima aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of creative working women.
Obaasima, meaning “Woman of Substance” in the native Twi language, is designed to empower the next generation of creative women.
This year they’re awarding ONE Ghanaian creative the opportunity to access £500 worth of funding to complete a creative project plus an additional £50 to cover living expenses.
Their aim is to encourage the development of creative ideas by supporting the continuation of projects and concepts created and led by women.
