Submissions Call for Outcast Magazine: ‘I am Zainab’ – Stories of abuse within the LGBT community. Deadline 30 April 2018

Press release from Outcast Magazine:

Submissions Open For Short Story Contest

Send in your entries for Outcast’s first ever print anthology themed ‘I am Zainab’ soliciting stories about abuse within the LGBT community.

Outcast looks for literary works that challenge the norm and break boundaries. We want thoughtful, inspiring and daring queer work.

Outcast publishes queer folk and anyone interested in queer literature and art. We enjoy cross-genre, intersectional, marginal and transgressive work.

What kinds of stories are we looking for?

For this anthology we are looking for stories that highlight a certain evil in our society that often gets overlooked because of the taboo surrounding it i.e. child abuse. This is an issue unbound by race, country, caste, gender or sexual orientation. It can be in the form of physical, sexual, mental or emotional abuse.

The theme is inspired by the recent social issues being highlighted by a young girl’s case in Pakistan.

We want you to talk about members of the lgbtq+ community and shine the light on certain things:

Risk factors, prevention, stigma, bias and discrimination, social and cultural taboos, anything else you think fits the theme.

How to submit?

Send in 1 ORIGINAL and UNPUBLISHED (this includes your own blogs, websites, etc) short story 4,000 – 6,000 words long.
