More industries will help environment, says Uganda President
People's Forum begins to prioritise development agenda
November 18, Kampala: President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni yesterday called for more industrialisation if environmental degradation is to stop.
While chastising the greed of industrialists of developed countries of Europe and North America, he insisted that developing countries would only stop ravaging the environment if they were to industrialise.
Museveni was speaking at the gala launch of the Commonwealth People's Forum in Kampala, Uganda. The Forum brings together 1,500 civil society delegates of 600 organisations from 59 countries representing 1.8 billion of the world's population.

World civil society converge in Kampala: Largest Civil Society forum ever, claims Commonwealth leader.
Some 1500 citizens of the Commonwealth will converge at the Hotel Africana in Kampala tomorrow (Sunday November 18) for the opening of the Commonwealth People's Forum (CPF).
President of Uganda, his Excellency Yoweri Museveni, will open the CPF, where Commonwealth Secretary-General, Don McKinnon, Director of the Commonwealth Foundation, Dr Mark Collins and the Ugandan Minister of Internal Affairs, Ruhakana Rugunda.
